Look Both Ways Before You Cross...

It's no secret, I love my iPod. I think that most of us listen to music or podcasts (or both) when we're running.

For safety's sake, it's important to be aware of your surroundings. If you need a reminder, read this news story.

If it didn't come from a reputable source, I would think this was an urban myth.

Wow, yet another reason why I'll never wear anything that might impair my hearing. I'm still recovering from the guy who tried to sneak up and grab me from behind while jogging last year :-(

I just feel uncomfortable with anything in my ears. I do run wth my iPod and the Nike chip, but I basically keep it in a pocket or on a lanyard around my neck.

Many years ago, I was electrocuted. It was a major neighborhood power line (7200 volts approximate). I was lucky. I lived through it. My feet were damaged. Basically there was a small hole in the neoprene sole of my shoe. The voltage grounded through that hole. I remember thinking after it happened that my feet were very warm. They felt hot. I asked my co-worker to check my feet and see if they were on fire. I watched as he removed one shoe. He looked shocked as he did it and I knew the truth would not be a good thing. It wasn't. Now my feet are fine. Fine enough for a run! Anyone willing?
