Let's Tri!

The date of the SimplyStu Worldwide Triathlon has been announced! Mark your calendars ... it's the weekend of March 28-30, 2008.

Like the Phedippidations Worldwide Half Marathon, this a free, no stress, no hassle event that you do on your own or as part of a real race, your choice. It's a great chance to do something new, something challenging, something FUN!!!

You choose the swim, bike and run/walk distances and you can even spread out the events over the 3 days. You can swim with a noodle, buoy, kickboard, anything goes. And any bike will do, even an exercise bike.

And if you can't do one of the events, people have been known to substitute another activity or just do a duathlon (2 events) instead.

Who's in?

Should we create a team? I can submit everyone's names, events & distances, results (times, photos, video, blurb, write-up, whatever) to Stu based on what is posted here since there's no slick website like PWWHM has, yet. Any suggestions on a team name?

Me, of course :-)

I'm going to do a short swim and bike ride on Friday, 3/28, then run the Ocean Drive Marathon on Sunday, 3/30.

I am in! That's right -- little ole injured me is in. If I can do this, anyone can. Let's do it!

We've already been Team Elijah (although that is a great choice). Maybe the Trioneers? (like pioneers) Tri for Chicago 2008?

I am excited. This is something I can do as-is -- I don't even really have to take swim lessons since I could do as little as one lap! (although I want to) I wonder if it has to be an official length pool?

Tribots? (Like Tri Robots?) (maybe like We Tri A lot?)

We should definitely wear our Elijah bands while doing this. FYI!

We could be Team Tri4Elijah. I like Team Trioneers too, though.

The distances don't have to be official so any pool will do, even a little backyard pool. Just guess the approx distance and multiply by nbr of laps if more than one. And similarly for the other events.

Well I just realized a dilemma....I am camping at Ft. Wilderness that weekend - and am also scheduled to run the Winter Park Road race....

So, since we will be riding our bikes around Ft. Wilderness, but probably not swimming....it will probably be a duathalon....unless we sneak away to Wilderness lodge to do some swimming...I will have to see.

I like Team Tri4Elijah! :-)

Yes - not sure where knee(s) will be at that point but hopefully recovering so there will be running and I'll head to the gym for some biking and some swimming... And I'm with Team Tri4Elijah!

I just came across your blog and think it's great you are posting as a group.

Petra, I'm a huge fan of the Chicago Marathon. Good choice.

All of you have great running experience and insights to share. I'll look forward to reading your blog more.

Keep up the fitness and posting!

OK, sounds like most of us like the name Team Tri4Elijah. Now I know that for various reasons it may be difficult to do one of the sports so, again, if you'd prefer to do a duathlon (2 events) instead of a triathlon, or substitute another activity altogether for the third sport that you can't do, that is perfectly fine. Again, the point is to just do something different, something challenging and/or something fun. And, of course, do it for Elijah!
